Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website located at www.emmybraids.com (the "Site") and the braiding services (the "Services") provided by Emmy's Braids ("we", "us", or "our"). By using the Site or booking an appointment, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site or the Services.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to book an appointment on your own behalf. Clients between 13 and 17 years of age may use the Services only with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on the minor's behalf.

2. Bookings and Payments

Appointments are scheduled and payments are processed through Square, Inc. By booking an appointment, you also agree to Square's applicable terms and privacy policies. All prices are listed on the Site in U.S. dollars and are subject to change without notice prior to booking.

A non-refundable deposit of $15 is required to confirm your appointment. The deposit is applied toward the total service cost when you attend your appointment.

3. Cancellations and Rescheduling

Cancellations and rescheduling requests must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment. Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred one time to a rescheduled appointment if the change is requested within the required window. No-shows and late cancellations forfeit the deposit in full.

4. Punctuality and Late Arrivals

Please arrive on time. A late fee of $10 applies to arrivals more than 15 minutes past the scheduled start time. Appointments will be automatically cancelled after 30 minutes of no-contact tardiness, and the deposit will be forfeited.

5. Preparation and Materials

You are responsible for arriving with clean, washed, and blow-dried hair from roots to ends. Braiding hair and extensions are not included in the price of service; you must bring your own preferred extensions to the appointment. Additional charges or rescheduling may apply if you arrive unprepared.

6. Photo Uploads and Consent

You may voluntarily upload photographs of your current hair and inspiration styles through the Site to assist with appointment preparation. By uploading, you represent that (a) you have the right to submit the photographs, and (b) you grant Emmy's Braids a limited, non-transferable license to store and use those photographs solely for the purpose of preparing for and performing your appointment. We will not use your uploaded photographs for marketing, portfolio, or social media purposes without your separate, express consent.

7. Studio Rules

Our services are provided in a private, home-based studio. Additional guests, including children, are not permitted at appointments unless expressly approved in advance. We reserve the right to end or refuse service to any client whose conduct is disruptive, unsafe, or disrespectful.

8. Health and Safety

You agree to inform us in advance of any allergies, scalp conditions, or medical concerns that could affect the service. We are not liable for adverse reactions arising from conditions or products that were not disclosed to us prior to the appointment.

9. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including text, graphics, logos, photographs of our work, and page layouts — is owned by Emmy's Braids or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Site content without our prior written permission.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site and the Services are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Emmy's Braids and its owners, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising out of or related to your use of the Site or the Services. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Services shall not exceed the amount you paid to us for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Emmy's Braids from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

13. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. You agree that any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Washington, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time by posting an updated version on this page and revising the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Site or the Services after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
